Economic Empowerment
Empowering women economically is at the core of SVBM’s mission. By fostering financial independence through skill development, savings programs, and income-generating activities, we help women take control of their lives and uplift their families. In the past two decades, we’ve positively impacted over 10,000 women across various states, enabling them to step out of poverty and into financial stability.
“Empowered women build empowered communities.”
Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
Our Self-Help Groups have been a lifeline for women in Bengaluru’s slums and beyond. Through savings and micro-loans, women have been able to escape the grip of loan sharks, access urgent funds, and work towards economic independence. Today, these SHGs are not just financial networks but also platforms for women to share their struggles and advocate for solutions, from domestic violence to civic issues. Over 300 groups are now actively operating, empowering thousands of women to stand together.
“When women support women, extraordinary change happens.”
Income Generation Activities
Empowering women to earn is empowering families to thrive. SVBM has enabled members to take up diverse income-generating activities like food vending, tailoring, selling clothes, and even solid waste management contracts. Women have also ventured into traditionally male-dominated fields like taxi driving and valet parking. These initiatives have provided financial security and boosted confidence among the women we serve.
“The smallest income earned with dignity is worth more than any charity.”
